Crispin Harris

Coach

Throughout Crispin’s career, he has had parallel threads of performance and coaching. He studied music, classics and drama at Nottingham University including a teaching qualification as well as a BA.

He continued to work with all age groups as a county drama teacher for Nottinghamshire and worked closely with their staff development and training team using drama and role play to enhance the effectiveness of the learning process.

For 25 years he led the acting department at Drama Studio London as both Vice Principle and Head of Acting specialising in the work of Michael Chekhov and Laban. During this, he continued his career as an actor, writer and director. He worked at the National Theatre, Chichester and the West End. On television his roles ranged from Friar tuck in the movie of Blackadder, one of the teaching staff in Skins to classic serials and adverts. He has a special interest in both Shakespeare and Pantomime and has performed with The Original Shakespeare Company at The Globe.

In his early coaching career, he was asked to work in environments which were unusual at the time including Prisons, Special Schools and Old People’s homes. Using Dorothy Heathcote’s technique, he devised a programme working with Criminals with complex needs.

He has worked in more than 20 British universities specialising in training for both staff and postgraduate students.

The richness of his training derives from a combination of imaginative storytelling techniques with the rigour of effective use of body language.
